Dear Ladies:
This newsletter will be primarily informational
and serve as a very, very rough draft of what we hope to have in the
future.
First, I would like to give a great big public
"thank you" to Valerie Oliver for her major efforts in
tracking down so many of our classmates. Valerie now lives in Italy
and this project included many long distance phone calls, letters,
and persistent follow-through. It is primarily because of her
efforts that we have been able to get back in touch with each other
in such a magnificent way.
We have also been able to keep up with Leslene
Matthews' progress-something that we probably would not have
otherwise known about. Valerie also sent Leslene flowers on behalf
of the entire group. Thanks again, Valerie!
Secondly, I would like to thank Carolyn Henry
Metz, an accomplished web page designer, who graciously volunteered
her services and has already designed and is maintaining the website
for posting information for our group. The website address is http://connect.to/sahsalumni. Please
check the site out for yourselves. It is absolutely fabulous
and I am sure you will be just as pleased with Carolyn's efforts
when you see it. As soon as you are able, would each of you
please go to this site, (you can do so by clicking on the
highlighted address listed above) and update your contact
information as thoroughly as possible. We are not sure if
all that we have is current or correct, so your help in this area
would be greatly appreciated.
Carolyn has created a calendar which will list
birthdays and upcoming events, an area for us to input our
individual contact information, as well as several interesting
links. As you
|
update information, it will go directly to a
database, which Carolyn will maintain. The site also has an area
where pictures have been posted. If you have any great pictures that
you want to have posted-family, friends, etc., or any events
that you want posted, please send them directly to Carolyn at her
e-mail address, which is diazmetz@hotmail.com. and she
will make sure they are posted here. If you have any articles for
the newsletter, please send them to Kathryn at Ervin-thomas@home.com.
The website will be a great advantage because
rather than waiting for a monthly newsletter, you will be able to go
to the website at any time and catch up on the happenings. For
example, if you know of an upcoming event in your area that you feel
would be of interest to others, please notify Carolyn and she can
get the info posted at the website.
However, while Carolyn will be maintaining the
site, it is obvious that the success of this venture will depend on
our individual participation. If we don't make the effort to
update the information, send in pictures or articles, etc., then
there will be nothing for her to post and the site will just be a
wasted effort. But if we are diligent in keeping up, then we can
have one of the best websites ever!
The website is a first for any graduating class
from St. Andrew High, and is only possible because of the great
technological advances available to us today. Since we are therefore
trailblazers in this arena, let's make it count!
Hats off to Carolyn for her commitment in this
area, and thanks in advance to all of you who will help us by
keeping this initiative going!
